A Soldiers Prayer

A Soldiers Prayer

A Poem by grumpyhrt
"

A Poem for our soldiers with dedication to my late father CTA1 US NAVY RETIRED KIRBY LEROY FERGUSON

"
A Soldier far from home
cold and tired, weary to the bone
he feels so alone-

For his country he fights
that those he loves might be free
willing to sacrifice
whatever will be-

At night in a ditch
his vigil he keeps
and the silent tears for his family
he can't help but weep-

So a prayer does he send
to God up above
from a soldier
his heart so full of love-

Dear God;
Now i lay me down to sleep
I pray not for me
but my family to keep-
If the morning light
I do not see
let my family know
that i died so they might be free-
I pray forever my soul will live
in the love to others that I did give-
Please wipe the tears from my family's eyes
let them see that for me to live forever
I first had to die-

God, Family, Country--any soldier knows these are the proper concerns, in the proper order.
A noble and truly inspiring poem, g; one worthy of your late dad and every good soldier who's ever honorably served his country.
God bless you.
