Thoughts

Thoughts

A Poem by Derrick
"

How I think my thoughts progress as I progress ultimately to the end of life.

"

Walking down- everything intrigues me

saw the moon glistening softly

and we had everything to be happy

a midsummer’s night dream

so at peace

Days past

hush.

here comes a foreign intrusion

a whisper in the breeze

spelling

“why worry?”

Always feeling but only now

can we express this feeling

a strain on the heartstrings

the muddling of clear skies

like before our heart opens

and we begin again to hope

to capture the wonders felt

when we were young, free

The billowing

of smoke from a cigarette, wispy

quickly approaching, like a bird in flight

smoothly smothering you

surgical precision- a last breeze of the wind

it starts to burn uncomfortably, almost unbearable

in a sudden final shudder

nothing.

I enjoyed reading this. I am not always good at interpreting poetry but it made me think that it was the end of something that was once passionate then over.
