Torn

Torn

A Poem by I Cast a Shadow
"

This was difficult to write. I still haven't expressed what I want. Maybe in another poem.

"

Undiscovered bird.

An unknown color.

Misunderstood song.

Incomprehensible to all.

Chirping.

One hears.

Selfish acceptance.

Selfless intentions.

Broken legs.

Broken wings.

Nurtured in a cage

And sings forlorn lament.

‘Nother tune.

Forced life.

A will to die.

Torn ‘tween life ‘n death.

Beauty melancholic melody.

it doesn't fly, but I'm not sure it issupposed to . . . I think it fulfills its destiny

I was in Portland back in May, our location out there found an injured eagle the day before I got there and as way leads on to way I found myself at the Audubon Bird Sanctuary and thought to inquire of its progress . . . the injury was too bad, that one had to be euthanized. But there were so many more that have been saved. Wonderful hawks and so many others.
