The River That Winds

The River That Winds

A Poem by I Cast a Shadow

Something tells me you'll never know
About the river that winds and winds
It runs through me clean and pure
Pristine and quenching to every ache
Every drop is worth my life
Ever cleansing and long it goes
Around my mind and through my heart
Moving me with triumphant beat
Moving me with joyous purpose
Forever until I wear out
Still it will flow 'neath the ground
Soaking up through the grass
Drawing on up through the trees
Bearing fruit for life to share
They will never know our river
The river that winds on eternal
Within me and within You.
