I HOPE YOU SMILE

A poem I wrote for my sister, whom I love dearly. <3

I hope you smile
when the sunshine hits your face,
i hope the warmth brightens your soul
and clears the mind, with new memories you've yet to create.

I hope you smile
as you hear the song we danced to in the car,
i hope the words bring you comfort;
knowing I'll never be too far.

I hope you smile,
on a hot middle of July day
when your beautiful face hits the cold lake,
knowing most of our summers, that's where we forever wanted to stay.

I hope you smile,
when you look at old photos of us, and notice how alike we've been since birth,
i hope you smile knowing,
that I've always loved you first.

i hope you smile,
from the protection I'll always provide
  I'll never leave you, never let anyone hurt you, never abandon you,
I'll ALWAYS be by your side.

I hope you smile,
when old memories come about, and you can't help but laugh
like the time i convinced you you were a fish, and you panicked,
just so i could get you to take faster baths.

I hope you smile,
when our kids become best friends, and they act just like we used to,
with your creativity and my humor,
'no telling what they will be sure to do.

I hope you smile,
when you see a black Labrador retriever,remembering the time i snuck in 2 pups for us to raise,
keeping them hidden in our bedroom;
knowing daddy i would have to face.


I hope you smile
When you feel my warm embracing hug and squeeze you tight,
knowing those arms will always be wrapped around my heart;
you've always been the light of my life.


I hope you smile when you read this
because there is not a word in here that i didn't mean,
you've forever impacted my soul; and because we are sisters


we will forever be stitched at the seams.
