Us

Bright lights and even brighter smiles,

dark skies and even darker eyes.

A heart of fire with a soul that burns hotter.

Whispered truth and shouted lies,

loud laughter accompanied by a quiet misery.

Things not said and chances not taken,

the choices we’ve made and those we love,

words we’ve said and the regrets we have,

the things we know and those we wish to know.

Desperate wishes and hopeful dreams.

What you feel and what you think.

Those who hate us and those who care for us,

the home in our hearts and the world under our feet.

All of these puzzle pieces come together to make us.

Piece by bitter piece.
