Freedom, an unexpected gift

Freedom, an unexpected gift

Freedom, an Unexpected Gift

They lie side by side,
On that field of frost,
Gazing at the sky of brightening blue,
The golden sun is rising from its bed in the mountains.

Those who pursued them are gone,
Taken away by the mist's arms,
The same mist that hid the victims in its cold embrace,
Protecting them from sword and fire.

Now they are free,
An unexpected gift,
Though a high price was paid.
Her house is in flames, and his is far away,
No longer can they take comfort in a home.

The boy takes her hand in hers,
Hope is in his eyes.
She smiles.
Her head is filled with the fantasies of where he will take her.
