This House

This House

A Poem by New Dawn

           This

           house
           with its

           crumbling

           walls and

           faulty plumbing,
       that groans and creaks as

though it is in pain. That shudders

under the cruelty of winter and barely stands

to greet the spring again. This house

with its 'too small' rooms that threaten

to spill us all out into the street, that

finds itself in want of decoration it's

carpets now worn beneat our feet. This

house that holds together on a promise

and keeps us safe despite its sorry state,

This house, gives us security and comfort

its foundations built on love, respect and grace.
