A Poem by hardeep sabharwal
"

On sikh genocide in Delhi in 1984

"
Terror of genocide,
Intranstive eyes peep out of
Dead brains and living corpses,
Trauma of your parting,
Tears endeavor to polish dim eyes
Fake attempt to disremember
Evidence of your existence,
they were crushing, and we concealing
wounds do make a call, sometime
Mourn of your death,
pains of a freezed voice
repressed under the roar of cruelty
Bond with life
more powerful than any other relation
our struggle for justice and life continue ...

Author's Note

hardeep sabharwal
More than ten thousands (official data 3000) sikhs are killed by mobs after the than prime minister Indira Gandhi s assassination by her sikh bodyguards, clear evidence are there of involvement of congress and ministry and police who are supporting the mobs, 30 years passed and not a single person is convicted,
JUSTICE IS DENIED IN THE WORLD S LARGEST DEMOCRACY,
though my family survived but as a kid I can not forget the memory of those days, I do write a novel on this

"When a tree falls, it shakes the earth" the words of our then prime minister. Politically biased, they led to ruthless killing of Sikhs. Not in Delhi but all over the nation. Many Sikhs went cut their hair! They were those people who are always ready to sacrifice their lives. But just for the sake of political affirmation, a destructive act of genocide took place! Your verse is a good attempt to bring to light the sufferings we had to face.

I clicked on this because at first I thought this a poetic version of George Orwell's 1984 but it was about the riots in Punjab which is a very sensitive issue, there are too many conspiracy theories, Operation Blue star and all that, plus I still remember that f*****g quote by Rajiv Gandhi. Politically I don't have faith in any single party and the worse the killer are ruling this country and own law. I can't even match the pain of those who have lost their loved one and have been facing humiliation.
Coming to the writing, it was very powerful message with the shades of blood....

I think you will do so just fine
There could be no peace without justice. No innocent blood is to be wasted.
The culprits should be punished. Not just 1984 but also Post Godhara Riots and similar incidents.
Their souls cry for justice while the culprits walk off laughing.
The nation is indebted to sacrifice of Sikhs for protecting others and boarders and this one incident is a black mark on history .

Claim to democracy is meaningless until it is realized by the weakest of the weak.
You painted a vivid picture of the massacre that happened then! Good writing and there's some scope for improvement. Keep going!
