Sans Espoir.

Sans Espoir.

A Poem by Tiarra Templeton

My heart sifts through memories

Slowly, turning the pages

I cling tight to my mind;

Stay safe, keep my distance

Crisp like dead, autumn leaves

Time has changed everything

Count the times I've cried over you

- Now, I don't miss a thing

I'm guilty without fault

I have done you no wrong

My heart talking in tongues

Makes the rhyme to this song

That I didn't want in the start

But slips through, in the end

I won't tell you the truth

I'll sit back and pretend

Earthquakes in my nerves

Make my whole body split

While the unknown of the future

Makes my whole being sick

Let you in on my thoughts,

See, I won't trust again

Too much heartache and fear

Too much break in my bend

As a fool, I almost asked

What had made me stand out

Of all the beautiful faces

You pick and chose, without doubt

Or any fear in your mind,

You sneak and hunt down your prey

With a quick snap of the neck

You clasp their souls in to stay

While you play with their thoughts

And you cut out their minds

To a point when a tick-tok

Doesn't clock in to time

When they write out their thoughts,

Their words fall in to rhyme

When a tired, hopeful fool,

Tells herself 'love is blind'

When the stress of simply thinking

Fills up clear crystal with wine

And she feels sheltered in,

Awaiting clear sky and sunshine
