Thoughts

A Poem by Cyclops92
"

This poem follows no particular structure and is about a troubled young man as he tries to silence the thoughts that keep him from sleep.

"
Thoughts
They shoot through his head like bullets
Killing his hopes and his dreams, burring him in a casket of bitterness
He tries to silence them so he can sleep; he has important things to do in the morning
But no matter how he tries, the Thoughts persist
Thoughts of failures, past and future
"You won't make it, you never could"
Thoughts of family, or the lack thereof
"They didn't want you, no one does"
Thoughts of betrayal and lost trust
'Your best friend, a rat. You can't trust anyone. You're alone. And you vouched for him"
Thoughts of death
'You're next, and you know it"
Thoughts of defeat
"You've lost, you don't stand a chance"
Thoughts of regret
"You never did anything of note. You will be forgotten with no wife or children to carry on your name"
Thoughts of preparation
"See a lawyer so you don't leave bills for someone. Visit Father Tim, get it all off your chest. Lots to do in the morning"
Thoughts of peace
"It won't be horrible. It will be just like-"
Sleep.
