Circus

Circus

A Poem by Taji Herbert

Every day is a race against the scale

Pound by scale defying pound

You walk the tight rope of dieting

Each step towards the goal is carefully calculated

With one wrong step you can loose your footing and plummet into old habits

Only to end up jumping through rings of fire

To satiate the ravenous crowd of naysayer’s

They chant for more

Clown they yell

Paint your face, eyes and Cheeks with shame and your mouth with a false smile

The more you loose the more you win

It’s a Circus
