God Debate

God Debate

A Poem by heido

Today I realised there is no god debate

I do not debate my faith

I debate myself

You can not debate the incorporeal

I can however debate my solid mass

My body and my mind

The parts of myself that are tangible

The feelings I am bound to

The people I can hold

The lovers I have kissed

The pages in books I have turned

These words that I use

All is a matter of perspective

If I did not exist

I would not be aware of existance

So I must question if this is death

The blind darkness

The chaos of creation

I doubt death is peace

Perhaps it is a lingering calm

A step before restlessness

Still solitude and complacency

Apathy

All of the things we care incapable of being in life

As we constantly think and think and toil

I must hope in death

It will cease and I will be still

So then

and only then

Can I breathe deeply of my life

So suprised by this, it's exquiste not at all preachy like I expect when I see the word's god and debate. Simply it is very thoughtful and cleverly written piece that doesn't ask or answer the big questions but instead merely contemplates them. I can't think of anything else to say but wow!

Thank you
