A Poem by heido

Deconstruction of my religion

Lends to my faith a science

A look at the origins of The Word

The way, the truth and the light

I have to wonder, if God, as we know of him

Through revelations through, Abraham, Jesus ect.

Is as Jesus claims, the way the truth and the light

Could I not, say that it is our moral obligation to persue the way the truth and the light

And in this universe, Science seems to be the way the truth and the light

Or am I to reject this persuit and with it my God?

I am burdeoned with the ability of knowledge, and good and evil

I am emboldened by God to accept this as my nature

So perhaps to doubt, accept, and redoubt and learn and gain humility, is to be faithful of God's gifts.

Alas, I am troubled as most are

With my unshakable faith

And my invaluable intellect and analytical tendency

Author's Note

heido
It is not enough to simply believe and let this be your life.
You must, must persue God, with love, passion and humilty, because anything other than this type of persual is not worth persueing at all.
If you are lacking these qualities I dare to say you have no faith, you have blind obligation.
God becomes the fascist.

Dear Heidi,

This is a very compelling poem. It is full of the anguish that one experiences when struggling to find answers to the meaning of life. Yes, there are so many possible paths to follow. Some paths converge. Some diverge. It is with the ones that diverge that we find the most difficulty. For which path shall we take? We can't go down both. They take us in different directions. This is the problem so eloquently discussed by Robert Frost in his poem "The Road Not Taken". Now I don't know if following the less frequented road is what really makes the difference, but certainly our lives depend heavily on our choices.

A very thought provoking piece. It was very greatly enjoyed.

Best regards,

Rick
