Guns of War

Guns of War

A Poem by AHN
"

This touches on combat PTSD.

"

Guns of war, you are not fair.

Nothing is innocent before you,

And after you nothing is the same.

There is no peace, Guns of war,

and you're to blame.

Safety

Purity

Rest

Soundness of mind

Relationships

Emotions

You only know to kill, Guns of war.

There is no silencing you.

You know no rest or decency,

not even among civilians and children.

You rage on forever,

well past when the warrior tires.

Gun of war, you are the destroyer.

In times past, you were an ally of mine.

Guns of war kept me alive.

Now you hold me captive,

a slave to your chaos,

in chains of memory

of by gone days.

Guns of war, you must leave.

Unhook yourself from me.

A man cannot have two masters,

and this devil dog has served you too long.

You will not destroy me,

as you have many a young man before.

I own my life, not you, Guns of war.
