Gray

Gray

A Poem by Daniele

Disdain, scorn, the sun

I know it

Alien, sane, with pride

I feel it

Love, timid master of soul

The iron hand that’s broken

The weedy maid unfolds

In oil fields so vast and steel’d

Arise, arise, ironclad will

In oil fields, so vast and steel’d

Replace the Mother with trees unfeel’d

Rant on, speak on, my son

I know it

The scarce crow flies and caws

I hear it

Crave, the woman young, so old

Virgin taste on lips unspoken

A lifetimes’ worth, her body’s sold

Amidst the chaff of lowlife life

Wake up, wake up, the sun rose my friend

Amidst the chaff of lowlife life

Day’s work is done, work on, insane

Do you feel the sun, scorn, disdain
