Black

Black

A Poem by Daniele

And your soul has been measured
And found dead, and wanting
The games you played, the things you asked
Were always wrong and mocking
And the gavel pounds, its force exerts
On a block of nature’s child
The boy is guilty, plead his case
In front of mobs defiled

I rest my case; prosecution, cease!
Defense is hopeless now
My client is guilty of the very worst
And I will humbly bow
Vibrations, shudders through the crowds
At the ghastly deeds he’s done
Exit truth, and enter hell
To steal a soul wrong-done

A chance to speak and only this
The youth’s torn mind jumps aloud
For first, before injustice reaps his life
He may yet speak for all
But beware if you, young man, cause perjury
To grace these noble halls
He nods, yet truth has long since left
These stony, heartless walls

I plead guilty on every count
Iniquitous soul of mine
This fight I cannot win but here
My pleas reach seething, open ears
I plead guilty to abandoning faith
For analytical thoughts
Yet when I put my trust in God
His roving eye Forgot
I plead guilty to questioning
The deeds of mind and man
Asking if to blindly follow
Is really His righteous plan

I plead guilty to mocking words
Spoke of blood that myself bore
Yet these same words were caused by pain
Inflicted by their ruthless swords
I plead guilty to hating those
Who all-knowingly err
For ignorance is no excuse
For crimes knowingly unfair

I plead guilty to hating life
A life of lifelessness, despair
Broken lyrics, broken song
Yet who’s to blame, who cared?
I plead guilty to contemplating
Murderous thoughts aloud
But they’ve murdered me all my life
These blind, self-righteous hounds

Repent young sinner, evil one
Your way is filled with corrupt deed
Recant your hopeless, godless ways
Bow to me, a righteous judge, on your scarred knees
You’ve lost, my young one, sing, O sun
The road you chose was wrought
With questioned word, a bitter tongue
God’s kept the master copy; thoughts!

Apologize, and die in pain
For God will never save
Your blood; you’re helpless, and in vain
You’ve tried your soul to save
Innocent? Bah! Guilty as charged;
Fair? Why, you are but dust;
Righteous? Never, perverted youth;
Godly? You lie, thief of misplaced trust

Trust? What, and now you mean
To say that it was I, young me?
If trust evanesced through these years,
How can I steal what was never to be
I scorn, O noble, mighty judge
For it is you that claim, blatantly
To receive these words from God above
Yet by your fruits I know of thee

I scorn at you, O lying dog
You let deceit to stain this court
And question me for daring first
To question what you do contort
Into your hands I yield, but know
That what I speak is not only thought
By me, but by all who’ve ever lived
And live and will, by this cursed lot

Do not heed, do not care
Do not listen, close your ears
But neglect will bring to ruin what
You’ve built, bloody hands, hurt hearts, cried tears

I close this outrage! Shut this child’s mouth
He talks of things long thought forgot
Criminal, liar, remain unforgiven
And you shall never see or breathe again
The youth speaks what he knows not of
He vilifies His Honor, His Grace
He curses he who says he hears
From above; forget him, his life, his face

Perhaps I speak what never should be said
But they are said from my heart’s depths
And you with all your hard-earned fame
Will die a disgraced death

To hell with you! We reign supreme!
Establishment that we've become
(But we fear for the time, the ripe time has come)

Fear now; you shall be undone...
