Words for Your Coffee

Words for Your Coffee

A Poem by Crowley
"

Heavy sigh....

"

Wrap your body in a blanket of your daily successes

And listen to the cricket with a musicians ear

For it is love that he is singing, life that he is crooning

Every line a melody, custom tailored to sooth your brief madness

Take a breath and the toothpicks from your eyes

Let them land softly on gosling down, resting preciously

They will be the windows to your dreams, translucent

Puffing sweet scents and glorious vapors used for flying

If the night terrors knocking at the doors of your mind

Cause you even a modicum of distress, take note

I have left a light on in the bottom left hand corner of your dream

Pass this way and you will be safe, there will be dancing

After catching a glimpse of what the faeries have to offer

Be it cruel or painfully beautiful upon waking to thoughts austere

Just know that you can carry these thoughts forward and blazing

And stir them into your morning coffee….with a touch of vanilla

Sticky?? vanilla in yer coffee? Real men drink it black... lol. Just messin' with ya C. At my age, easing into morning is one of the true pleasures of age. I use the quote from a title of a Route 66 episode, "Somehow it gets to be tomorrow".... and so it does. Coffee helps me start forming words though, as I try to let anything from yesterday and last night stay in "Vegas".... that being said, having also recently experiencing anxiety disorder, something that has no basis, other than past excesses finally taking their toll... I find resonance in your words. Good piece, hit home.

This is so lyrical. Are you a songwriter? This is absolutely beautiful and could so easily be put to music!

Thanks for stopping by and for the great review!
I love this. I absolutely love this poem.
I love how the words are dancing around in my head, I love how the third verse; "If the night terrors..." made my soul feel such a peaceful calmness. I especially love that I'm drinking a Vanilla espresso while reading this gem, lol. Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece :)
