Half-Existence

Half-Existence

A Poem by A.A.Romanczuk

Happiness hanging on dragonfly wings
The scent of youth upon moody wind
You waste these precious moments
In seriousness
Grief invades upon the starlight shining through your eyes
My hand itches to wander
And lie upon your hand
To lead you down the paths of innocent, carefree hours
And breathe life into that hollow shell
You see but do not perceive
You hear but do not listen
You speak but mean nothing
Look
There around you, trees vibrant with life, in sunshine bathe
There people are conversing, laughing, living
Birds singing
But a frown is permanently etched upon your perfect lips
Perfection wasted, never used for frivolous deed
You lead a shadowed, half-existence
Bleeding profusely
Or frozen blue
Come, will you not join me?

...
but of course
and no other answer
there can be
over hills, beyond shadows
and across the seas

in this town
of the frown

i have waited
to be grated

but beyond this fermented torment
is where i truly want to be
