Why do you smile?

A FICTIONAL story that should be true.

One day a small girl was walking down the street. She was walking down the bad part of town and through the factory district where the sky was filled  with smog and there were bums everywhere wandering the streets. This little girl was just walking along with the hugest smile on her face.  A bum caught sight of her and approached,"This ain't no place for little girls, filled with bad people and places. Why are you smiling?"
The little girl beamed up at the stranger,"Because," She said, "When you smile you can here the good things in life, and eventually you find a reason to smile!"

"what do you mean?" The bum asked, confused.

" If I leave the house with a smile, I hear birds and see the sun. Whenever I leave the house sad, I hear people crying and see the clouds."

The bum nodded, and left the little girl with a smile and a new outlook on life.

It is a really short story! :P Do you want to write longer ones? I'm interested in your ideas in case you need some feedback on them. There are also some small errors like here = hear..at least I think that's what you meant and when the bum says filled with bad people and places.... a place can't be filled with places, unless you want to do it intentionally to show he isn't that good with language. It is a very cute little story:) If you want to make it longer, maybe you can give background information on the girl and give her a mission..maybe she does something that makes that part of the town become better..but that's up to you :) Hope it helps
