Candlesticks

Candlesticks

A Poem by hjcm

Long hallways and high-arched

windows fringed with rich drapery.

Silver laid out on the table

ready for luncheon

while outside the children

run with the dogs

watched by a

severe female

eye; grounds

resplendent with

spring flowers

and something

more pretty

than just grass:

brushstrokes;

a painted beauty

like the canvasses

within that line the

walls of the drawing-room,

with two handsome eyes so like his.
