Tuesday the 15th

A Poem by hjcm

Two sets

of glasses, straws forming a letter

where they cross. Last night

I turned over and over, hand curled around

a heartbeatless fabric to find

a position that was comfortable

without you there. Cutlery

lying side-by-side like we did,

lying still in the morning of silence

thick with sentiment. We moved together

with the knowledge of a past,

stopping the meaning of speech

with kisses, rehearsing the song

we used to sing now in hushed voices

behind closed doors.

About
shower poetry: poetry that comes to you in the shower, or whilst doing something similarly mundane. It is short, mostly unedited, and a little bit shoddy. more..
