The Mirror

A Poem by H.L. Cerveise

The Mirror

I look into the quick silver that hides behind the hard clear glass.

I see a light that is too bright to be stared at.

There is a darkness that is too deep to be seen.

I see a body that looks distorted and malignant.

There is a spirit that refuses the grotesque image.

I demand of the glass are you the reflection or am I?

There is no answer that can be heard.

I scream you will answer me, or I will shatter you.

The hard surface faintly vibrates but remains silent.

Oh wow, this is and intense poem. Your poems in general seem to be extremely thought provoking; forcing us readers to ask ourselves the hardest questions and strip away the layers of armor we have built around our souls. Thanks for helping me complete the story from "A Sea of Stars".
