Ode to an Alternate Oisin

Ode to an Alternate Oisin

I am sure I will add to this as time goes by, but here it is on this night of its birth. If you know not of my legend see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oisín

Ode to an Alternate Oisin

In the end, will your memory of me fade with time?

Will the fires destroy all you have of me?

The ring upon your right hand will it lose its luster?

Will there be a time you take it off and put it away?

The touch of my hand upon your skin you will feel it no more?

Will the distance between us be so great our hands cannot clasp?

Is it fitting your warrior poet die alone on the battlefield?

Will the last scent in his thoughts be of you?

Slowly as the light of life leaves his eyes will darkness surround him?

Will the warrior poets of the past embrace him?
