If only you loved me

If only you loved me

A Poem by honey

Love is all I ever wish for
Why won't you ever love me
I see you scowl at the sight of me
And try to hide your disgust when I look in your face

Love is what was meant to be
But you let me know that you were raised to hate me
You leave a strife in every of my stride
And despise me with so much contempt

Love is what my heart aches for
Our love should have unraveled mysteries
And aroused so much envy
But you acknowlege yourself with so much superiority

Love should have come naturally
But you teach your children to hate me
Why do you turn your children against mine
And enslave me even when you claim not to

Why do you ever hate me
I look into the mirror and see a striking image of you
The same blood runs through our veins
Still you love me less than a pet

What makes the difference
What has colour got to do with love
How dare you judge the colour
of my skin
What has your skin done to your rationality

This should have been a love story
If only we had been in love
Our laughter could have travelled across oceans
Our worlds wouldn't have been so torn apart

Author's Note

honey
I'm not a racist, this is something about how we were supposed to live, in love and harmony
