Happily Ever Afters

Happily Ever Afters

A Poem by hopelesspierrot

Once upon a time,
A girl wrote a rhyme
That became too sublime
To be read to children
At bedtime.

Trapped in a tower,
Face all a glower,
She was no dainty flower
To be picked by a prince
Of great power.

For she was the witch
Whose pen had an itch
To capture fine and kitsch
Art too important to be
Tossed in a ditch.

She, the story-crafter,
With dark, raucous laughter,
Tied a rope to the rafter,
Kicked the chair out from under,
And found Happily Ever After.

Seeing social workers everywhere up in arms as parents read this lovely bedtime story to their little horrors.
I like it.
