Forever

Forever

A Poem by Courtney Hough

Rocks so sharp,
The side is steep.
I've got to climb,
Take faith's leap.

The sky is black,
And wind is blowing,
Past demons along the path,
My storm their controlling.

I take a breath,
Take a step.
Pushed down already,
The demon it crept.

I turn to see it,
Hooded black creature.
Face of a mirror,
Showing pain, nothing but fear.

It's hands were razors,
As it grabbed my skin.
Crawling away,
Seeing it grin.

Rocks cut my hands and knees,
A bloody trail follows.
I look back to nothing,
Land of no tomorrows.

I look towards the top,
Nothing but bright.
Doves flying over,
Beautiful heavenly white.

My eyes look around me,
Death, darkness and sin.
This climb alone,
Impossible to win.

Demons cast their stones,
I fall once more.
Covering my head,
Cut deep to my core.

Looking into their faces,
Seeing my pain and mistake.
Crying losing my strength,
Is this really my fate?

I cry towards the sky,
"save me from my past!"
More join the group,
How much can I last?

Their faces,
Regular people like me.
Judging before they know,
Living in worldly greed.

My body shakes,
And my limbs grow numb.
Just about to give up,
As I hear someone.

"Stop!" A powerful voice shook,
"Lay down your stone.
For none can judge,
But those of our throne."

Arms pulling around me,
As people disappeared.
He waved his hand,
Erasing the mirrors.

The dark beings shattered,
Others did not stay
All from one love,
that saved me that day.

I didn't see his face,
For he closed my eyes.
"beautiful sister,
I must return to the skies.

You called on me,
And yes I heard.
Protection for the faithful,
Is well deserved."

I felt us moving,
As my feet touched,
Such a smooth surface,
No rocks not rough.

He opened my eyes,
That face I've seen before.
My savior and brother,
Defeated deaths door.

This path is so beautiful,
Flowers grass of green.
Angels along my path,
And a rod to lean.

"Here's your strength,
To push you along the way.
Your family, friends, and my angels,
For by you I cannot stay.

Their always beside you,
And push you from most.
But I had to save you first,
Defeat those ghosts."

I see the loves of my heart,
All dressed in white.
"we're here for you,
and we will fight."

Turning to my brother,
"Where is the other path?
Why not take me to the top,
Instead of only half?"

He smiled and said,
"where is the lesson?
If all is done for you,
Who was I testing?

I saved you from that,
For you couldn't on your own.
But now it's your turn,
Find the way home."

He kissed my forehead,
Slowly he was gone.
And I began my journey,
For it wasn't long.

Days, weeks, years passed,
The further I climbed.
The goal of the top,
Angels guided me this time.

Others joined along the way,
Some fell, some raced.
But I stayed straight,
For I knew my pace.

My body was changing,
Slowly growing older.
More strength was needed,
To climb the boulders.

Almost to the top,
None around me now.
Reaching those gates,
On my knees I bow.

Singing from behind,
Voices, animals and mankind.
As the gates opened,
They all were lined.

They all were waiting,
Wanting to embrace.
"You're here now!" they say,
"You've finished this race!"

And there standing,
My savoir yes he.
He opened his arms,
Welcoming me.

He knows me by name,
And he pulls me in.
Yes this was the test,
And yes...I did win.

Once he touched me,
body, hair, skin, spirit everything was new.
"My sister you did it,
I have something to show you."

He took me through the gate,
Where my eyes finally did see.
All the greatness and beauty,
That was waiting for me.

"I give this to you,
As well as much more.
You've earned your keep,
From choices before.

The climb was hard,
So much burden to bare.
And yet you climbed,
Becoming my thorns hire.

He took my hand,
And led me to a room.
There was my family,
I knew I'd see them again soon.

There was a single chair,
All turned waiting for me.
I looked at him and smiled,
For my eyes finally did see.

"I'll stand by you forever,"
I said hugging him close.
"You've given me everything,
More than what I wanted most."

My climb is over,
But a journey just had begun.
Where we live forever,
Together forever as one.

Courtney Hough
I wrote this after I left the faith I was born and raised in and found it false. Family pushed me away. I wrote this to show my belief in life after death no matter what religion you are.

The end is fantastic. I understand you because I left my faith of 10 years about 4 years ago, so this struck a cord. I can only imagine how you felt leaving your the faith of your birth. This is a power peace for those who had the tough choice of leaving a faith. I got from this piece that He will take the hand of anyone who believes and does the climb. Man that was deep. The more I chew on this piece the more I love it. Thanks for writing this. Blessings, N.
