How to Have a Hopelessly Boring Day

How to Have a Hopelessly Boring Day

A Poem by Heath Rumble
"

This is inspired by everything the poem describes. It's one of those (few) poems that I think sounds better when read aloud, (I have a special voice and specific rhythm I like to read it with).

"

Sleep till 11:48

AM

Have a breakfast bagel sandwich:

Greasy SPAM,

Eggs,

Cheese.

Lounge.

Do nothing.

Check fruitlessly

For someone (in particular"?)

To chat with on Facebook.

Watch a boring,

Crappy,

But still not-so-bad-of-a-plot

Movie.

Realize you should have left for a barbecue

A while ago.

And then let your mom make you

Even later.

Arrive at the barbecue (late)

Only to discover half the people invited

Even showed up.

Talk about

Nothing.

Do

Nothing.

Leave,

Feeling a bit tired

Of doing

Nothing.

Wait.

Read

A few pages

Of that book

With that guy

Who did

That.

Sit at your desk.

Wait

On Facebook.

Browse the Internet for something interesting

Fruitlessly

While still wondering

Why you’re still doing

Nothing.

And wait some more.

Give yourself:

Excuses

For doing nothing;

Reasons

Why you’re waiting.

Probe your memories aimlessly,

While probing your cabinets

For something to snack on

To fill this

Emptiness.

Listen to Pandora

That New Age station you seeded with

Sense of Touch

Which is what you believe

You might be waiting for.
