Lucifer

Lucifer

A Poem by Humberto

I am the essence of all man's desires
I am the pain of all dreams unfulfilled
I command fantasies to crystallize and hatch.
I allure you where only madness rules.

I am the phantom with the wispy brush
That draws the ghost of wishes and demands
I give man the illusions of enhanced domains
And fashion dreams that levitate the everyday
To unheard heights of dizzying spell
To feed your vanity's unending craves.

I fashion murder by spinning envy
And I grant dreams to those who should be dead.

The world, a half-lit planet, was your paradise
But visionary images from the mind
Attracted you to imaginary lands
Always tomorrow or in the next world.

You gave up Elysium for a mere flash
Only to catch the hell that's my domain.

I am the Prince of Darkness, Lucifer
I have the trinkets to delude the soul
And in concealment we forever meet.

Greed is the clay I use to fashion doom
And spin my web with tiny little claws
Demons forever whispering coarse dreams,
Implanting discontent with paradise
Suggesting greatness to your puny self.
I let the mighty be an eternal thorn
That eats your soul without redress.

Imagination is my greatest friend
Achievement is my greatest foe
Money will be the guide to your own fall
Power will always shroud your blighted soul.
You will consume all that you see
And I will be the hunger that propels
Conquering all the worlds that you survey.

Out of your farms you will be proud to go
Into the wicked city fashioned with decay
The stench of sin will perfume your descent
The music of the jungle will disguise the noise.

So rush with blindness to the lemmings fate
And I will feast with all that made you great.
You will pay homage only to Mammon
Ignore the pains of losing paradise
And I will use the blemish in your soul
To bury beauty in the darkest cove.

I will hide goodness with glitter and decay
Youll sing the tunes that your religion grants
Confuse true gods with vaudevilles of mystic dung
And I will laugh with a cavernous crack
That sends the bolts dispatching you to hell.

This is an incredible, incendiary poem! It stirs terror, horror and intrigue all at once and, I can pretty much guarantee a shiver down the spine. A magnificent description of man's descent. Read it right now because it's happening right now.
