Mother

Mother

A Poem by hypochondrita
"

.

"

the secrets i long to conceal

can be found

through little drops of water

that refuse to fall out

they cling to my eyes

adjusting my sight

for all to see what i aim to hide

tiny lenses of truth

billboarding the frights of my youth

the one true proof i own

of the affection inside

only escape route

my body didn’t manage to hide

i could release them, you know

free us both

but where would they go

do i just drop them down and leave

to abandon your story, what a nasty cleave

oh, no.

they’re mine to care for

the many disguises i once wore.

My dear friend. We wear wear may faces in a lifetime.
"oh, no.
they’re mine to care for
the many disguises i once wore."
I loved the above lines. I believe my real face is lost and I became what I suppose to be. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

I was many things to my mother and I miss her greatly...
I have been where this poem is...tears that never seem to fall in real life...they stay inside, cling to something but for no good reason...I need to learn to release them and quit wearing the guise of being okay when I am not.

This is utter brilliance! Holy guacamole! I'm blown away by how intelligent & inventive this idea is of holding onto one's tears, or letting them flow, a tool of manipulation (true-to-life!) My mom used tears all the time to manipulate us. She seemed forlorn & beaten (my dad was very abusive to all of us) but in a way, she used her tears as her power & she got everybody on her side. Not in a bad way, but just the things humans do to survive in tough situations. Not only is this a brilliant idea to write about, but you deliver it in a way that's very original & delivers a punch of bittersweet pout (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
