ren doesn't believe in love, or it least, he didn't believe in love. he didn't believe in love until reign came along. she popped into his world with her corny jokes and her dumb style. she came in like a wrecking ball, as cheesy as it sounds. he knows that one day he was completely fine and unimpressed with life, and suddenly he had to be everything she needed. he had to be there when her heart was broken by someone else, and when her dog died. he's been there for her countless times, and she's been there for him as well. she was there when he decided his gender wasn't for him, and when he was having a midlife crisis at ten. she helped him through everything, and it was almost impossible for him not to fall for her. this wasn't the case for her, it seemed. she is completely fine remaining just friends, while ren wants to kiss her pout away. he doesn't know how he ended up in this position. utterly in love with a girl who will never love him as anything more than a best friend.
