I close my eyes

every time life gets hard

every time it feels like nothing can go right

I close my eyes

and I pray

every time I see pain

in others peoples eyes

I close my eyes 

and pray for them to see the love

in a world so cruel

I close my eyes

every time I see that girl 

out on the corner of the street

I close my eyes

and hope that she knows

that there’s a better life 

there’s a better way out there for her

I pray for those who don’t have a home

I pray for those who don’t have a family

I pray for those who don’t have near enough

I pray for the hungry

I pray for those behind those bars

I pray for those who hold up those guns to fight for me

Children are dying 

they’re crying

Momma’s and daddy’s aren’t coming home

they’re leaving 

Soldiers are dying

they won’t be coming home

I close my eyes

I want to make a difference in this world

I know that after the rain 

the sun will shine so, so bright

I can see a better day 

it may not be now or even tomorrow

but I see a better day

when all those prays that we send up 

will be answered

Let’s send them a prayer today
