Humanity or Equality?

What comes first? The earth or humanity?

What happened to stopping complete inequality?

We find peace within our races

Yet we can’t explore new places,

Because the coral has gone brown

Or all the trees have been cut down;

Or the water has gone dry

And the animals have become shy,

 Because we paint our trophies with the blood of our prey

Demolishing species day by day.

The worlds gone cruel and had a change,

Let’s stop now before we have to arrange

A trip to mars to build a new society,

And wait until it becomes a rivalry.

It seems as if we’ve put the rule of gold, over the golden rule,

Ripping up soils, digging aimlessly like a fool

To wear pretty jewelry;

Let’s stop with this tomfoolery,

Instead of filling our lungs with smoke

Oh no, but not literally or we’ll choke,

And how could we harm a precious human?

Yet all there is, is polluting and shooting.

if only we could put it in slow motion

But plastic is rapidly filling the ocean.

Seagulls will no longer sing,

And all we’ll hear is the deafening ring

Of the earth pleading for mercy

Saying, “stop before my blood goes dirty”

But ignorance has clouded our vision,

And we no longer feel the need for ambition,

As we pillage and wreck,

Just to get another pay cheque.

Our days will no longer be sunny,

The skies will turn grey

But no, not like ones on a rainy day,

And before I go, let’s get one thing straight

We need to learn to be in peace and how operate

As one.

One love, one nation, before we’re left with none.
