Cleanse

Cleanse

A Poem by L.

The mirror

Stares me in the face

Through a blotted sheen

Of sultry fog.

The porcelain is calm

Against the splashing of a flowing current

Spurting and swirling deep water over

My fingers and my veins.

The warmth caresses my hands

And I feel it course through my body

Up my arms and over my chest

Along each collar bone to follow my skin

To my neck and to my face.

It spreads over my mouth in the form of a smile.

The mirror looks on

As I slowly wash my hands of you.
