![]() drizzleA Poem by icegraymelodYWatch the sunset without waiting for the sunrise While waiting for the flowers to wither As the winds send their message of another goodbye In a never-ending cycle Of being born Living as if it’s the only reason Beyond why life was breathed into the dust And soul became one with the body Living yet still lifeless Eyes deep yet distant Like rainbow which shows up But never reaches the waiting hands Damp with the drizzle of a sudden cry Of skies that would never reach The highest of soil Mounted without reason nor form At mind when it was made By the same hands Full of calluses and bruises And forgotten memories and unkempt traces Of promises in vain, innocence Tattered like covered-up truths And it repeats Repeats like a broken melody Of an endless, silent sonata Hummed by cowardice and played by grief While the city is asleep and the only lights blaring Are neon lights incomparable to the fireflies Without wings to flap anymore To ruins and modernism washed By clouds with their stream of tears That hit the pavement like an army Facing the momentum Of its last battle But night eats up the whole city And it’s the ears that see Of choruses unfit to be sang by happiness Not even by comfort Withstanding chains that are not binding But suffocating to the core Drowning under the darkness Praying not for the first beam of sunlight But of a song that will lead Those feet to the end of the tunnel Without stone bricks for its walls And just mere stained glass That confuses imagination from reality Of sadness that eats from the inside until The only left part is the need To reach an end Not another stained pattern Of selfishness taking over selflessness And drought overcame by heavy tides and gales. © 2018 icegraymelodYAuthor's Note
