Finding Meaning

A poem I wrote about the struggles I often have inside, and how I've realized I need to find peace with them before I can be happy.

There's a war inside,

a battle within,

and it pounds my heart,

and it scars my skin

It isn't just "sad"

or a temporary feeling

there's parts of me,

that feel like I have no meaning

I don't have reasons

and I don't fully understand

but some days I feel wanted,

and some days I just can't

Was it something that I did?

This is something I can't say

How do I explain,

that sometimes inside, 

I'm far from okay

And so before I brave the stormy seas,

or face the howling winds,

I'll calm the storms inside of me,

and find peace within.

I turned the last three words into a tattoo that is now on my ribs :)
