A burning candle

A burning candle

A Poem by Harlow Aaron

Love is but a burning candle

Of flames of golden fire.

Tis' love that is hot and yet sweet

With the flickering of blinking eyes,

Eyes that flutter and bat with flames

Which turn cold into mutual desire.

Love is well torched, but patient and kind

Mixed into a contrast of pleasure and fire.

Thy hand, upon my heart and a invisible flame in my soul

That will never pass with age nor death.

Even in seasons within the grave

My candle continues to burn.
