Hold Them Tight

Hold Them Tight

A Poem by T. Jay Keigh

Do you see that girl

Walking alone

Wandering just where

Can she go

Then she's at home

On the ground

She cries out loud

When nobody's around

And people don't see

What their words can do

Living in a selfish

Point of view

Lend a hand

Be a friend

Don't abandon her

Till the bitter end

Stay and fight

By her side

Take her in

And hold her tight

Do you see that guy

Sitting alone

Not having any place

To really call home

He's so scared

But sits in the dark

And carves into his skin

Leaving bright red scars

People don't realize

Their words are engraved

Into fragile hearts

That are sad and betrayed

So lend a hand

Be a friend

Don't abandon him

Till the bitter end

Stay and fight

By his side

Take him in

And hold him tight

You might think

There's nothing you can do

But by taking the first step

You can help them through

The pain and the suffering

Can be eased away

Be a kind person

Each and every day

Cause one word from you

Or a stranger or two

Could help a frail soul

With whatever they go through

Lend a hand

Be a friend

Don't abandon them

Till the bitter end

Stay and fight

By their side

Take them in

And hold them tight
