Daughters

Daughters

A Poem by Im His Daughter
"

Inspired by the first 3 min. of the Movie Vivah. An Indian Bollywood Movie i sat down to watch tonight, but totally got distracted into writing a poem about daughters. What a wonderful distraction too

"

Daughters

they are planted into the heart

from the creator that made them

it makes me ponder,

ponder, the peculiar world they are

born into

It doesn't matter

who they are from,

where they are born,

where they live,

how they are reared or raised,

once in your heart

there they shall remain

in your gardens heart

Daughters

they uproot themselves

to transplant somwhere else

in someone elses garden

of their heart.

Sometimes estranging herself

from the only roots

she knows,

making an unfamiliar place

her own home

Daughters

tiny little buds of color

soon blossom

into magnificent arrays

of blossoms,

spreading their wonderful selves

& glorious scent around

they go here & there

leaving sweet memories

 to ponder upon,

Daughters

grow up & turn into Mothers

spreading their joyful notes & tones

around

sprinkling their smiles & laughter

in tiny little footprints

of themselves

renewed,

It doesn't matter who the parents

are,

the moment they leave the garden

the seasons in their parents heart

change

A parent always misses their child,

Daughters

are

Beloved,

Cherished,

Loving,

they are tiny tender flits of beauty

We pray blessings into & over her

as she carries on her lifes journey,

forever, all said & done

Daughters are always Daughters

no matter to whom they share

their future garden with.

Author's Note

Im His Daughter
This poem is written about my own daughter, who chose at a very young teen age to leave home & live with her gf. I struggled inside with my daughter being bi, but chose the out of sight out of mind approach. My thoughts are just let it go, accept it & move on. As long as she came home & I knew she was ok, that is all that mattered. She is now 21yrs old & in a relationship with a man. Still as long as she is happy & safe that is all I care about!

Congratulations!
Your poem Daughters has been awarded #3 Most beautiful poem in general in the ...Well I think it's beautiful writing contest.
Daughters are magical things, and this poem definatly showed the bond between parent and child. I loved the idea of a garden in someone's heart.

This is a spectacular way to describe daughters. It is beautiful and the metaphor of using flowers is a great way to describe how the roles change throughout life with daughters. the flow of this poem is easy to follow.

I do not have any children, however, I have three brothers and four sisters. My mother is my closest friend, my laughter when I want to cry, my ever sturdy rock, the soil from whence I blossom. Without a doubt I know my mother loves me in all the ways you have written and I have to say thank you for such a lovely poem. One day to hope to give to my own children all the adoration a mother can feel.

I really loved your poem "Daughters". I was raised abused and was married to an abusive man for seventeen years. I know you understand. We'll talk more about your awesome writing another time.

A son grows into a man, but it seems a daughter is forever the little girl with pigtails and curls, even when a mother or grandmother herself. An excellent tribute to daughters everywhere.
