Delusional feelings

Delusional feelings

A Poem by ines

Right before midnight
I see a dim light
Calling my name like
It has always known my soul for so long
And suddenly you came
Told me your full name
Broke all the edges
and said you are here to stay
You stayed and stayed
Planted thorns near my grave
I wished for flowers and not hate
You scratched and dug
Until you found a diamond
You stole it then sold it
A thief in disguise ,
and you knew how to sway it
I believed in you yet I am ashamed of you
Now I cannot tear myself away from you
I know you are bad for me
But I choose to long for thee
A sweet paradox , a bitter realization
If it is not love then what is ?
Could it be temptation ?

A very interesting psychological portrait here. The word "paradox" appears in the poem, and the speaker's feeling toward the addressee is indeed paradoxical. The person seemingly was a savior of sorts, yet is realized to be a negative influence whose charisma exerts a powerful hold. The last line hints at an explanation, but without certainty. This is one for the psychoanalyst.
PS: The past tense of dig is dug.
