Prides Silence

Prides Silence

A Poem by Secondhand Tink

I need a little help now,
More than ever,
But my pride stifles my words,
My hate of worrying others,
Puts tape across my purging mouth.

I ask myself how did I get so good at being silent?
When my voice has always been so very bold,
Inside I'm no more than a cowering mouse,
A little girl out in the rain, with a heart shattered by the cold,
The one who looks in the mirror,
With eyes full to the brim with sheer loathing..

So how do I say I need you now?
My pride says whats the point you don't know how!
My caring heart says lock it away,
You'd not want to be a burden,
You can just disintegrate more every day.

My Mia passes my pride the tape,
My Mia lets me hate my shape,
Looking tentatively in the mirror,
A glimmer of hope, torn away again...

I love this. It explains self hatred so well. I can feel the feeling of out of nowhere, something happens and you become silent.
Lovely...
Good Job.
