The Heart Beware

The Heart Beware

A Poem by Infamous Real
"

Inspired by Coleridge, written for a friend.

"

Across the way I saw her there
Through the glass the maiden fair
That pleasant smile, that joyful flare
And all who would should see her there,
And all should say, The Heart Beware!
Her darken eyes, her fiery hair.
Weave some flowers round her thrice,
And place a crown upon her head
For what word of worth can be said,
but that time with her is Paradise.

This was a pleasure to read and was as you bio-describe, a mix of humour (my English spelling) and sheer beauty with just a hint of spice - it's good to know that a trainee minister lives in the real world. I look forward to reading more of your work.
May I just point out that rhythmically. it is fine until the penultimate line which spoils the flow and thereby lessens the effect - the punch of the the excellent last one.
Kind regards, John
