Layover

Layover

A Poem by MCS
"

One travels more usefully when alone, because he reflects more. ~ Thomas Jefferson

"

A postcard city found

lit by romance

of an unknown history

Blank sheets

of a new journal

await filling

A new perfume

fills the air

but stirs no memories

Every breath

taken here

is deep and new

The music

unfamiliar

yet pleasing

A tired soul

bares itself

tarnished yet curious

For a few days

a fantasy

will live

Thoughts of

being from nowhere

will be entertained

Happiness fleeting

history has a way

of catching up
