Grief

Grief

A Poem by MCS
"

“Sometimes the healing hurts more than the wound.”

"

One struggles with the weight of grief

That crashes with the force of a tsunami

Wave after wave of intense feelings

Of loss

Of sadness

Of longing

It’s difficult to breathe

When in the clutches of this faceless demon

Focus is absent when overwhelmed with this misery

Grasping at straws and telling one’s self this will pass

The malady has lingered much too long

When will my wound heal

When will my heart stop aching

When will I be myself again

Practicing self-care and compassion has not helped

I’m told that one can’t hurry grief, that it’s a process

Yet this process has loitered in the shadows

I’m no longer myself

Time drags in such situations. A most powerful poem and feelings that we all have felt make this not only personal but a shared experience. A sad but lovely write

Soren, thank you for these words. We all have our trails.
A Powerful piece, Mary, every word counting, the last line hitting like a brick.
'Get-thru-its', as I call these dark times, sadly only heal with time. I think of it as living side-by-side with them for their duration, until they subside.

You do the same :)
Thank you
Grief usually is a process that eventually works itself out. But some griefs go on far beyond what is normal. For these, treatment is needed.
