Buried Treasure

Buried Treasure

A Poem by insanity
"

Perhaps if we didn't spend so much time trying to get ahead we'd see the beautiful things around us.

"

I must tell you a tale

Once shared over a pint of ale

A wise man once told me

Great fortunes come from the sea

You must heed my advice

Such humble words shall suffice

Indulge your pleasures
Throw your treasures

Into the great frothy abyss

Such a notion as this

May seem a little amiss

But heed my words and bliss

Shall soon follow

This I know

For I stand on the precipice

Of altruism and avarice

Perplexed and pensive

Of the life I live

Venture into the unknown

You are not alone

There are many of us here

Where the water is crystal clear

And the shores are on fire

Do not dwell in the mire

The riddles of the world

Shall be unfurled

Like a blanket upon the beach

Answers are in your reach

Daring and bold

A treasure worth more than gold

Is held in our hands

As we kneel upon the burning sands

I once felt so alone

My situation I did bemoan

But what the old man told me

Has set my troubled soul free

No longer do I worry

About getting ahead in a hurry

Or of life’s many possessions

Once you abandon your concessions

You’ll see, what I see

Looking out into infinity

Ebbing in and ebbing out

Beyond a doubt

My thoughts have led me here

To a land without fear
