Hourglass

Hourglass

A Poem by insanity
"

Finding your way in life isn't always easy and there are many different paths to take, no one is the right one but eventually most if not all find vindication.

"

Staring blankly at the sky

Watching as life passes by

Drifting without a care

Breathing the vivacious air

Steal a dream upon the sidewalk

Drawing hearts with chalk

In the distance rumbles of thunder

Make me stop and wonder

The hourglass is half-empty

The end is nearing for me

These damn sands

Put my life into my own hands

A rose wilts willingly

As a cloud winks at me
Suddenly, I now know

Where in the city of life I must go

Traveling fast but sometimes slow

It’s nothing nice but it’s all I know

I’ve still got tricks up my sleeve

I don’t need to see to believe

The hourglass is near empty

Is this the end for me?

These damn sands

Put my life into my own hands

You showed me the ropes

You had such high hopes

But I’ll take it one step at a time

As I come into my prime

I began to see it light

And as I step from this infinite night

The last bit of sand slips down

Atop the world, I stand radiant and renown
