Letter to my Unborn

Letter to my Unborn

A Poem by Rouge Evans

Your image is vague,

your heart beats slowly but surely,

but you are all mine,

you are the only one who calms the rage, in my broken life

I don’t know very much about you,

All I know about you is a name,

- is who you will be known as to the world,

but to me, you are my reason,

to step outside of this cell,

you are the dawn of darkness.

In ever lasting darkness I waited, longing for a hero,

turns out patience is vain,

it seems that fairy tales are labeled under as “fantasies” for a good reason

but you, I thought of you,

and how one day, you would be so real, an angel sent to save me from insanity,

then I realized, my life has a purpose, my life has a reason,

and that reason, is to finally see you in person, and to see you grow.

To my unborn,

even though I don’t know your full name,

in lieu of self destruction,

I thought of you,

and I will always love you.
