A Poem by Connor Veenstra

I lean back in my chair, take a sip of my scotch,
Hangin out in my jammies and my black and white socks,
The basement is my hovel, the beast under the stairs,
Eats everything in the house and has overlong hair,
Sun's out shining, my socks and my shoes off,
Get outside, breeze blowin, blow the blues off,
Most days in my life I just lose control,
But today, I'm alright, I'm on cruise control,
Got my car windows down, hot air in my face,
Heat's like a blanket, soft linen and lace,
Give thanks to the Lord, cause He gave me this day,
He gave me my girl and He made me this way,
Comfy in my own skin, at least for now,
Tomorrow, I don't know, it might all come down,
But right here, right now, life couldn't be better,
The world fits around me like a comfy old sweater.

That's a good feeling....when everything can be so consuming and hectic, to have one of those days makes the rest worth it. I loved the sing song rhyming and the rhythm and flow. Great writing!
