The Chains of Freedom

The Chains of Freedom

A Poem by Ishu
"

About the yearn for freedom

"

I stayed to yearn for the bay; a moment of peace and despair

the beams dancing in the archway;  a sense of victory they declare

In the dungeon to the top I perched; the bygone era of dreams shone

the answers’ rubble carefully searched; many a mistakes to be thrown

What is their price for freedom; the prized asset they’ve surrendered

Is this some class of dictum; a rebellious voice somewhere blustered

These chains do they even exist; the illusion is far more dangerous

To end us all what does it consist; we move as the mind is sclerous

Beyond this wall we see the shore; the ol’ smell of rum to engage

A cheerful host I do not abhor; is it a dream I unnecessarily presage

The tool gashed through the bars; the wait had never been longer

In a moment we’ll feel like the Tzars; the freedom dreamt by cadger

Off the window plowing in the lanes; as we eluded sights to the cove

A distant fantasy to break the chains; end of time looking for trove

It all ends as we reached the reef; but there she waited, arms still tied

As we turned he berated my belief; can we, when freedom is the bride!
