Wishful Thinking

Wishful Thinking

A Poem by Nicole Gurney

If you want me, then want me.

Don’t fill my head with pretty words.

I never wanted anything more than you.

Your words weigh heavy,

My heart beats slow and heavy with each breath whispered.

I can’t take anymore, no I can’t take it anymore.

Just love me, love me.

Give me life again.

Spend some time with me.

I never wanted anything more than you,

No, only you.

This anger beats against walls in my head.

The pain is never silenced.

This game of cat and mouse is long overdue

It’s time that I get over it and over you.

My only wish is that you knew how to love.

My only regret is you.
